Yalgoo
Located 497km north of Perth, Yalgoo is a tiny settlement on the road from Geraldton to Mount Magnet. A historic town with a number of attractive buildings, this once thriving community has an endearing old world charm about the place.
Yalgoo is derived from the Aboriginal word meaning blood. The town was founded in the 1890s with the discovery of alluvial gold and has a rich gold mining heritage.
Wildflowers such as white, cream, yellow and pink everlastings can be viewed from late July to September in the area. Other tourist attractions include the Courthouse Museum, St Hyacinth Chapel, Jokers Tunnel, Heritage Trail, Meteorite Crater, and the annual Yalgoo Race Day.
